New York Finger Lakes -- A constant reminder of all things great!
After having just returned from a last-minute trip to south Florida to visit family, Chris and I were again reminded how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the world, and get to run our own Bella Rose Bed and Breakfast business at the same time. Florida might be a great place to visit, but we surely would miss everything we love about home -- the great food, the exquisite wine and the spectacular scenery. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by the best restaurants that offer creative and delicious dishes, concentrating on ingredients that are grown right here in our own backyard. Whether you are a local and tend to frequent your own favorite establishment or you are a visitor who stumbles upon the best meal ever in the most unlikely place, the Finger Lakes restaurants are a mecca for foodies everywhere. It could be Eric's Office, right here in Canandaigua, where food + service = best value around, or the Brown Hound Bistro in South Bristol where Trish is not only the owner, but the chef, so quality is paramount. It is also voted #1 best restaurant in the Finger Lakes from Trip Advisor. Not to be forgotten are the local wines that cater to every palette. One could argue that a trip to the many wineries around Seneca Lake rival any wine, in any region, anywhere. And the top wine magazines agree! Come on, who doesn't enjoy a great Riesling? Some of our guests who don't think they will, return from a day trip to the wineries having a different opinion. We have some real winners and it's easy to take it for granted until you don't have them on the menu. And, one of the best parts of getting to enjoy the many Finger Lakes wines, is the short drive over the hills surrounding the lakes through rich farmland and acres and acres of vines that thrive in this climate. Farmstands at every corner, unique shops on historic downtown streets, and the friendliest people around. Add that to everything else, what is there not to love about living here????
